On the trail of Otto Haesler in Celle
When you think of Celle, the first thing that comes to mind are the beautiful, listed, half-timbered buildings in the Old Town. However, what many people don’t even know is that Bauhaus is our trump-card!
Be our guest and breathe in the Bauhaus air of Celle!
As insiders knew, at the beginning of the 20th century, the architect Otto Haesler worked not only in the centre of Celle in the ‘New Building’ style, but also left his architectural imprint especially outside Celle’s town walls. These are the tracks we will follow and they will lead us to the following highlights:
The Director's villa, a representative residential building in the typical Bauhaus style, the Italian garden with its blue / red cubes - the first ever housing development! The “Glass School”, renowned far beyond the boundaries of Celle, is a prime example of the total implementation of the criteria of the ‘New Building’: light, air and sun. Interested? We look forward to hearing from you.
