Celle Station

Close to the centre, environmentally-friendly and well connected

Pedestrian route from the main station to the town centre (approx. 1.4 km):
Celle’s historical Old Town is just a short walk away from the main station.  From the main passenger concourse, leave the station by the main entrance, which takes you onto the Bahnhofstrasse. From here, walk across the Thaeplatz, onto the Arno-Schmidt-Platz and the Westcellertorstraße and you have reached Celle’s historical Old Town centre.   This should only take around 15 minutes at an easy pace.  Simply follow the signs for ‚Richtung Altstadt‘.

Or you can get to the Schloßplatz in the inner town centre, more quickly by bus:
Bus lines 100, 800, 9, 900,12 and 13 will all take you directly from the main station to the town centre.

You can buy a ‚Town Centre Hopper‘ style ticket (Innenstadthüpfer) directly on board the bus from the driver at the start of your journey,.  This covers your journey from the main station to the Schlossplatz in the Historical Old Town (or Old Town to the main station).  The journey takes around 5-7 minutes. Tickets cost 1,50 € for adults and 0,80 € for children.

Light Art Installation Station, Celle  - surprises in colour at Celle’s main station

Benches light up. Light art illuminates the facade. Moving light and sounds accompany pedestrians and cyclists on the street and through the station underpass. Light art is fascinating. Light art builds a bridge between the train station and the town. Light art has put Celle internationally in the limelight.

Concept initiative: The initiative for the Light Art Installation at Celle main station was developed by the curator and artistic director of the Robert Simon Collection, Celle Museum of Art. 

The Project: The light shows for Celle Station were designed by both national and internationally renowned artists.
