A unique, once in a lifetime nature experience

Some very special adventures await visitors to the Hankensbüttel Otter Centre, at Gifhorn in the Südheide – Europe’s unique nature experience centre.  

You’ll find lots of information about these fascinating animals and their natural habitats conveyed in an entertaining way. The focus is all about experiencing nature and having fun throughout our 60,000 square metre site – where else will you have the opportunity to see otters and their closest relatives, such as badgers, polecats and mink in their natural habitats?
 
There are 29 feeding times each day, which is an ideal way to observe the animals in action, but if you miss one of the 15-minute feeding sessions, don’t worry! During their daily rounds, the animal keepers pass each enclosure several times, which is another chance for you to join in at a quieter time.  

There are various playground areas throughout the centre, plus a cosy, onsite-restaurant with a lake terrace, offering ideal opportunities for relaxation and recreation, plus plenty of different nature experiences for young and old.
