Forestry Work Yesterday and Today
The Forestry Museum is in the heart of the village of Becklingen, at the farm belonging to Mr. Henry Oehus. The museum was opened in early summer 2007 and was made possible by the founding of the Friends' Association, together with the Department for Rural Affairs and the town of Bergen, as part of a village regeneration project.
As part of the slogan "Forest Work Yesterday and Today", a wide variety of different types of forestry can be seen, through documentation, photographs and other exhibits, demonstrating such skills as timber harvesting and logging, sowing, planting, maintenance and surveying, plus forest and nature conservation.
The museum shows the development of forest work from the beginning of the 20th century to the beginning of mechanisation.
