Salt Mining in and around Sülze

For almost five centuries, brine was extracted and salt processed in Sülze. The salt works in Sülze were first mentioned in a document in 1379. The operation of the salt works finally ceased in 1862 because it was no longer profitable. The small saltworks museum illustrates the history of salt mining in and around Sülze with the help of visuals and informative text panels. There are several models in the outdoor area, such as a reconstructed grading tower.

Guided tours are available. These can also be combined with a bike tour or as part of a walking tour around the village.
